Absolutely brutal customer service, ridiculous amounts of hidden fees and unnecessary penalties, have been a loyal customer for 14 years and still have a very hard time dealing with any situation or anybody from this company. Unacceptable treatment from Home Trust Mortgage every single time we have dealt with them, and the Visa is a nightmare too. Do not recommend to anybody except perhaps your worst enemy.

I tried to get my credit limit increased several months ago. My request was denied without a good explanation, I had never missed a payment in 2 years. Fine, I was going to chop up the card, but decided not to. So today, after logging into my account, I notice that my account has been debited some sort of minimum payment withdrawal I had absolutely no prior knowledge of. I explained that I had just made a $300 payment on June 2, to which the woman replied that their billing period made it due on the 29th of each month, so that payment didn't count! Yes, that was actually her response. They really don't care about their customers. I point blank asked her if this is the way they treat everyone? And said that I want to close my account. And she answered me like I had just told her I was going for a walk around the block. She could not have possibly cared less. I am so happy to be no longer dealing with these people. Truly horrible company and had I read the previous reviews, I would not have signed up with them in the first place. To be fore-warned is to be fore-armed. It will be funny to see if anyone attempts to call me to save me as a customer, not likely, but still funny.

The WORST company ever. People have a lack of expertise, they have promised a certain day for closing when all the documents where signed by all the parties and after this they have requested other documents and kept on doing this until my closing date was expired. ABSOLUTELY UNPROFESSIONAL PEOPLE, NEVER DEAL WITH THAT CRAP. Hope they will go bankrupt with this type of service.

They are unwilling to help you when you are in a bad predicament. ....interest rates are high even when you clean up your credit and trying to get established again they won't help you.

I am currently about to loose my family home because of there hidden agendas, administration fees that I don"t think even exist. They are out to screw anyone whether there a person with a mental illness,or a working class person ,But honestly I am on a pension and I didnt pay every month to them my ODSP office did,Sell when they know that the government is paying out the bill directly, they raised interest right.almost 4% changed mortgage term and take out date.from a closed to an open without even asking, notifying myself or the government worker that was paying them for over 2 years straight. There is 200 difference in the monthly payment by doing that.Never even told the payer of the change so just maybe they could increase went they sent every month however didnt but after 6 months oh and what did that cost ME late fees for every month the amount changed to a little over what my budget even allows from shelter costs and as a result 4years now since i bought our house feb.29 well they changed the purchase date to april 4thfor renewal,$105,000 loan is now turned into $149,000 loan using up 95% of my equity I cant even get another lender as 5% is all i have to work with i only paid $141,000 for the house in the first place $30,000 for total reno on second lower apartment this was my childrens inheretence we are loosing here,I guess if I dead tomorrow than the house would be paid for through mortgage insurance,That would be the only way to make sure my children will not loose the only bit of help in there life this was it.Thank You Home Trust, DON"T TRUST WITH YOUR HOME Is there help out there Before the eviction notice officer comes back for a second time Mental Illness is not something anyone should just take with a grain of salt,As its not the sickend persons fault.

I would never recommend anyone to deal with this company. We were preapproved and got the waiver and 10 days before closing the cancelled the deal. And here we are sitting on our boxed ready to move out because we told our office that we are moving and now this so called financial institution that has the profile on their website saying that they are trustable and offer mortgages and other b.s. After all the papers that we sent to that company and the fact that nothing changed since they preapproved 2 months ago we are still working and don't have any changes these people can so easily change their mind and they don't care that we will have to move out nowhere and that we can lose our deposit money. I just regret that we didn't read the reviews before dealing with this company. So, NO-NO. NEVER MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE AND DON'T DEAL WITH THE HOME TRUST.

The 5 years during which I had a mortgage with Home Trust was a very bad experience. Unlike pretty much every other financial instritution in Canada, Home Trust does not allow clients to pay their mortgage in advance. Also, the penalties for cancelling the mortgage if you want to pay in advance or move your mortgage to another financial institution are extremely high compared to other Canadian financial institutions. Beware of doing business with these guys.

Yesterday I spoke with one of their mortgage officers or underwriters...a Habib Nour who works out of the Toronto office. I was shocked by how ignorant and hostile this man was on the phone and to a complete stranger no less. I had been trying to get in touch with him for over 2 weeks since our application was submitted. He ignored my calls and messages however until I mentioned that if I didn't hear from him soon that I'd have to contact his supervisor. This seemed to rattle his cage and he finally called me back but right away his tone was hostile; he used derogatory language and spoke down to me in what can only be described as a condescending manner. It was clear he felt I was bothering him and he dismissed all my questions and basically refused to even discuss the application with me except to say that it was "crazy" and "everything was wrong" with it, end of story. This employee is doing an incredible disservice to his employer by treating their clients this way.
